The Marine Intelligence Liason Officer (ILO) is the commissioned officer assigned the Staff-2 Intelligence/Counterintelligence position in a detachment's headquarters. The ILO works closely with the Intelligence and, if present, Strategic Operations. The ILO is reponsible for determining possible threat that might require Marine presence and briefing the MCO on Intelligence matters. The ILO is a member of the Marine Senior Staff but is rarely on the ship's senior staff.
