The Warp Five Complex was a reseach facility dedicated to the development of Earth's first warp-5 capable engine. Such an engine, it was believed, would give Humans a practical chance at exploring all areas of the galaxy.

Zefram Cochrane dedicated the complex in 2119 near Boseman, Montana, not far from where First Contact with the Vulcans took place in 2063. In the years that followed, scores of scientists, engineers, and shipbuilders lived and worked here. The complex would ultimately produce the NX-class of vessels. (ENT: "Broken Bow")

The Complex continued in operation for many years, contributing to the continued development of warp-drive technology and working on several aspects of Starfleet's transwarp project. It was converted into a spaceflight museum in 2293.
