Operation Return

Operation Return was the bold plan devised by Captain Benjamin Sisko to recapture Deep Space 9 from the Dominion during the Dominion War in 2374. The base needed to be retaken to ensure Dominion reinforcements could not come through the Bajoran wormhole and to offer a base of operations against other targets in the Bajor Sector. Starfleets Ninth Fleet was to take part in this operation, but did not reach the rendezvous point in time. The attack was carried out by elements of the Third and Fifth Fleets, with timely intervention at a crucial stage in the battle by the Klingons.
