Verex III

Verex III maintains a rather despicable reputation throughout the galaxy. Third planet of the Verex System, this dusty Class M world is controlled by the Orion Crime Syndicate who use it as a processing facility for its slave trade.

The planet appeared to have at one time been a lush, green environment. Scientists believe an epic drought occurred some 10,000 years ago and turned most of the surface to dust. An ancient civilization called the Debrune once inhabited the planet, and left several old castles, forts, and other monuments behind. Several of these old settlements have been modernized by various Syndicate families, including Agludenar, the planet's unofficial capital.

The Federation became aware of Verex III in 2154, when nine members of the Enterprise (NX-01) were kidnapped and taken there to be sold.

Commander Vory Kalidor was five when he was brought here in 2355 and separated from his mother. He would eventually be sold to the Jol'ern caju, a powerful Orion clan. As a Starfleet officer, he returned to Verex III undercover on a number of occassions to help distrupt and dismantle the slave trade here.
