The last planet of the Argus System, Argus X was first surveyed by the ''USS Enterprise''. Shortly after discovering the tritanium, the crew came across a [[dikironium cloud creature]] which attacked the away team. Ultimately, the creature was tracked and killed on [[Tycho IV]].<br />

A few months after the ''Enterprise'' left, the ''USS Gallup'' brought a full scientific team and a detachment of the [[Starfleet Corps of Engineers]] to do a full planetary study. In 2273, the Ingram Mineral Company secured mineral rights to the site. Soon a small outpost was established on the planet.<br />

During the [[Second Federation-Klingon War]], a group of [[Klingon]] commandos raided the mines and destroyed about half of the production base. In response, [[Starfleet]] placed a reinforced [[Marine]] detachment on Argus X. A year later (2374), when the [[Dominion]] attempted to destroy the mines, they were surprised to encounter such resistance and were soundly driven off.<br />
