The new generation of Computer systems are highly developed capable of doing more than what the first computer systems were able to do. Because of this the computer system needs much more maintenance than it needed previously. The Computer Systems Specialist was then introduced to relieve the [[Science Officer]], whose duty this was in the very early days.<br /> <br /> A small team is assigned to the Computer Systems Specialist, which is which is made up from NCO personnel. S/he is assigned by the [[Assistant Chief Engineering Officer|Assistant]] and [[Chief Engineering Officer|Chief Engineer]].
