The '''Negh'Var class''' was a new form of warship developed by the [[Klingon Empire]] in the early 2370s'. It represented a significant change in design philosophy which had favored swift, agile vessels to one that offered heavy firepower and pure brute strength. The IKS ''Negh'Var'' which was the first of this type served as the flagship of the Klingon Imperial Fleet. The ''Negh'Var'' features a large number of disrupter and torpedo arrays as well as a wide collection of auxiliary craft. The ''Negh'Var'' is often deployed in a pack, being supported by smaller cruisers or frigates, since the starships are highly expensive the Empire likes to use them in packs to enhance their potency and survivability.

They were larger than the [[Federation]] [[Galaxy class]] ships and capable of carrying a significant number of ground troops, on short hops this can often be as many as 3000. Initially introduced in 2372, few of these ships were equipped with cloaking devices at the time, though now a majority of ''Negh'Var'' class vessels in service have been refitted with them.
