When flying in formation the wingman flies slightly to the left and rear of the [[Element Leader|element leader]].<br /> <br /> The philosophy of a two man element is that, by working in tandem, the two craft increases their firepower and environmental awareness while allowing mutual defense and a wider range of tactics. An element team spends more time in linked simulators practising joint manoeuvres than they do in solo training.
