Soyuz Class

The Soyuz Class was a Federation starship developed as a light cruiser and based on the single-hull design of the Miranda class. Introduced in the late 2250s, the Soyuz were designed more for border patrol and cutter duties as opposed to scientific research. Unfortunately, they did not prove as successful nor as popular as the Mirandas, and could barely make Warp 6 in service. Most were retired by the late 2280s or handed over for civilian usage.
