Cygnet XIV

Cygnet XIV is the sole inhabited planet in one of the largest solar systems (18 planets with 104 moons) in the galaxy, Cygnet Ultimus. It is a Class M world that orbits an ancient red supergiant star roughly ten light years from the territory of the First Federation. The planet is very temperate, with small frozen zones near its poles.

The inhabitants of Cygnet XIV are outwardly similar to Humans, but have darker complexions and brown or black hair. It is believe the civilization is as old as the Vulcans, but planet-wide wars, epidemics, and pestilences over the centuries have meant the natives have rebuilt at least three times. Relative peace has been kept for the last 150 years, mostly due to the acceptance of a matriarchal society that places education at the core of everything. As such, the planet is a fountain of technological development and sciences.

Cygnet XIV was accepted into the Federation in 2251 by a unanimous vote of the Federation Council. The smallest of her three moons, Kethra, was chosen soon after as the site for a Starfleet repair and refitting station. A computer science and communications hub was added in 2275. Kethra Station continues operations to this day.
