The Ferengi D'kora class starship (also sometimes referred to as the Marauder-class) was a type of vessel operated by the Ferengi Alliance in the 24th century. The D'kora was an advanced vessel, nearly as powerful as a Federation Galaxy class starship and almost as fast. There are two versions: a heavily armed transport and a cruiser-type warship. Going against common convention, the Ferengi prefer to arm their ships with a variety of weapons assumingly to have "the right tool for the job". Unfortunately, this keeps crews busy servicing and maintaining a number of unlike weapons with no redundancy or parts interchangability. Armaments like an EM pulse cannon and missile launcher may seem out of date, but they are still useful against older and lightly armored ships---especially ones you want to capture or pillage rather than destroy.

The "neck" of the ship can extend out, exposing docking ports and access to interior trunk lines. Daimons will also order this done when ever surrendering their ship, mostly likely akin to the Ferengi practice of submission in their culture.

Because the are status symbols as well as functional ships, D'Koras are usually meticulously maintained and stocked with luxuries not found on other comparable species' ships.

Ships of this type were first encountered by Starfleet in 2364, when a ship commanded by Daimon Taar stole a T-9 energy converter from an unmanned outpost on Gamma Tauri IV.

A Ferengi trader passed through the Hekaran system in 2370, where it detected what appeared to be a Federation signal buoy. When they approached it, it emitted a massive verteron pulse, disabling the ship's warp drive, sensors, and communications systems.

A week later the ship was discovered by the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D), who suspected the ship of hijacking the USS Fleming. Limited to impulse power only, it "played dead" until the Enterprise was within range, when it opened fire, inflicting minor damage.

After discussing the situation, the crew of the Enterprise offered to assist in the ship's repairs, in exchange for sensor logs on the Fleming, which it had passed several days earlier.
