Introduced in 2360, the Ferengi shuttle or pod is a very fast and maneuverable auxiliary craft designed to operate with the D'kora class "Marauders" that were coming prevailant at that time. They also have impressive reliability, with examples crossing halfway the galaxy before requiring a maintenance check (DS9: "Little Green Men"). Following the Ferengi principle that fighting is bad business (except if you're supplying the arms), the shuttle is lightly armed and shielded. Many examples have been sold to companies and indivduals for their personal use.
The usual layout has a small cockpit forward, with a cargo hold and sleeping quarters aft. Standard emenities include a replicator and waste extraction unit.
