System 1 beam cannon

The System 1 beam cannon is the Cardassian designation for the Dominion designed Phased Polaron Beams mounted on the Dominion's Jem'Hadar fighters and battleships. The weapon was originally incorporated into the Keldon class to improve its combat ability but since has found its way onto many Galor class vessels as well.

The Phased Polaron beam employs a pulse of phased polarons and is capable of either severely depleting a vessel's shields or wreaking havoc with its internal systems, due to the interference generated by the polarons. The effect is temporary but continuous usage can render a vessel totally inactive, or cause an overload or system malfunction which can also destroy the vessel.
