A race of humanoid race of reptilian decent. Warlike in nature, and very seclusive. Technology equivalent to that of early 22nd century Earth, with the ability to detect vessels in orbit of their home planet, Wei.

A people

With recessed, side based eyes, predatory claws, and razor teeth, the Weimar people still possess much of their hunting past. With slightly reduced brain size, they aren't as powerful of thinkings as the average humanoid, but much more instinctual.

History

A people split into two nations. Their planet, mostly covered by a vast ocean, split the two sides developed differently. One side maintain a monarchy style of government throughout their ages, and became known as the Wei Imperium. The second nation, slightly more south westernly on the planet, turned into Republic. An elected president rules over a council.

The two nations never had much contact, except for a few small encounters on international waters, where both nations simply thought of the other as a pirate vessel, and left it alone. It was not until a Imperium warship landed on the shores of the Republic that a real first contact was made. At first, both sides sought to abuse the other for resources they needed. In the end, the greed of both governments lead to a constant state of war.

Over two hundred years of technological race to see who could out gun the other first, it didn't take long until the invention of the steam engine, the air plane and the rocket were invented. Races to place objects in space became more and more open, and eventually, there were entire orbital stations. The advent of nuclear power brought both hope and fear to the nations. The first nuclear reactors were built in space, resulting in the first nuclear bombs being built and tested on one of the six moons that orbit the planet.

Although the nuclear devices were never tested on actual people, the threat loomed, until the Equivalent of the 20th century Earth cold war loomed. Each side had enough firepower to devastate each other, and the world several times over.

A small alien probe was discovered in orbit, and shot down with strong nuclear force, while each side believed it was a spy probe from the other side. In hind-sight, it turned out to be a Federation survey probe. As the debris spread over both sides, the main body of the probe crash landed within the Republic. A second, long range scan probe detected a large level of theta-band radiation on one of the original moons used in nuclear weapon's testing.

Federation Involvement

The Federation, and by extension, Star Fleet, feels that their actions could possibly lead to the annihilation of one side. The USS Apocalypse has been detoured from her newest shakedown mission, the heavy warship is diverted to check into the Weimar people. Orders are given to not interfere unless it is apparent the probe is directly linked to the incident.
