Daran V

Daran V is a Federation member world with a population of 3.7 billion. Originally an early Earth colony, Daran has a sizable Deltan population as well. More recently, Tellarite settlers have made Daran the site of a large industrial complex.

Daran V is the fifth of ten planets that orbit a moderate-size orange star. None of the other worlds in the system is capable of supporting life, although planet six has an orbiting Federation spaceport.

Daran was threatened with destruction in 2268 when it was discovered that an asteroid ship called Yonada was on a collision course with the world. While the artificial world was still 396 days away, a method was found to redirect its course and spare the populations of both Yonada and Daran V.
