Palamis Quarantine Zone

The Palamis Quarantine Zone is a region strictly patrolled by the United Federation of Planets and is a buffer zone from the Palamis System from the rest of the Federation. The nature of the quarantine zone is to completely isolate the Palamis people from the rest of the quadrant due to concerns of the biologicial virus released accidentily by the Palamis people in 2353. The zone has since been regularly patrolled by Federation starships and vast array of orbital weapon platforms and minefields.

In recent history there has been much debate within the Federation Council and the new administration of President Nanietta Bacco to lossen saunctions against the Palamis government and to eventually drop the quarantine all together. However the biggest proponents remains Andor and several other worlds, whose outline colonies who were harshly hit by the viral outbreak. In early 2383 an operation coordinated with the Diplomatic Corps and Starfleet was coordinated to attempt to reestablish contact with the Palamis Government. However soon it became appearent that the Palamis world had grown politically/miltarily unstable and soon a temporary coup d'etat had occured with Federation ships in the crossfire, hundreds of Federation personnel were killed in the insuing fight. As a result any future plans on dropping the quarantine had been delayed indefinitely.
