Char is a Class B Geomorteus planet and is the first planet of 13 in the Dax'Ion Star system. Char was found to be resistant to the Terra-forming methods of the Protectorate, it's proximity to the sun baths the surface with a intense radiation, heat and light that prevented an atmosphere and have thus far prevented any from being created.

Solar Probe, lunched SY 2250

The planet has a large iron core which generates a magnetic field about 1% as strong as that of the Eve. Surface temperatures on Char range from about 90 to 700 K (−180 to 430 °C), with the subsolar point being the hottest and the bottoms of craters near the poles being the coldest.

The orbital track of the planet Char take just 32 days to completely orbit the star.

Due to the proximity to the local star planet Char wasn't discovered until the Subjective year of 2250 when the first solar probe was sent to study the Dax'Ion star.

Even though large scale population was out of the question a number of small bases have been built on the surface and deep in the planets crust.

From orbit that main settlement is a series of domes connected by under ground tunnels, the radiation from the Sun makes unshielded settlements a very bad idea. A large part of the settlement is given over to the Hull factory, it is here that the material that is stripped from a Neutron Star is processed into the Hulls of star ships, this is archived by intense heat and pressure that is much easier done on Char then anywhere else.

All of the 185'509 either work In the Mine, the ship yard or the Hull metal processing plant or in the Solar Science station on the planet. Very few dependants live on Char and those that do are of age where they are learning the trade of their families.
