Personal History Born as the firstborn of ****Classified**** Edwards and Dr. Anne Edwards on a cold December night in 2358. Both his parents were Starfleet officers but as military enlistment officers and a protected agent, who when during time off would return to Scotland. He went through primary and secondary school at a Glasgow non-church affiliated private school with very little challenge.

2370
He quickly showed a language intellect as he learned ancient Indonesian and Korean, by the end of his first year of High school. He went on to learn ancient Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese by the end of his third year and by the end of school, he was fluently speaking six Terran languages, including the Federation standard which he was born into when he added French.

2375
After finishing school he entered an Arts degree at the University of Edinburgh which led to a Masters in Linguistics and Social Anthropology. After completing his Master's study he changed to an external student for his Ph.D. and headed to America, where he entered Starfleet Academy where he saw his best outlet as a Linguistic and Communication Science officer. Having already more than covered most of the Linguistica courses for Starfleet he concentrated on the rest of the sciences that he could understand. His time in the Academy set him up with a generalised understanding of the science of space exploration as well as being a communications officer.
Service Record 2385
Cadet Freshman year
Anthony started at the Academy at the same time as Doctorate, he started concentrating on non-Terran linguistics and cultures, starting with Reman, a Romulan derivative, and Klingonese.

2386
Cadet Sophomore year
In the second year, Anthony concentrated on Zindi with a specialisation in insectoid, this year and began to play at being a cartographer by taking astrometric and stellar cartography lectures and workshops.

2387
Cadet Junior year
In his year Anthony continued working on his astrometrics and Stellar Cartography. Linguistically he studied showed him how close the Romulans and Vulcans still are. The most challenging thing this year was the verbs and adverbs and their slight differences with vastly different meanings between the two.

2388
Cadet Senior year
Anthony’s stellar cartography exam this year was the hardest but he got the best results, His Linguistics exams left him Dux of the class. Then he did the Kobayashi Muru. With a fail, it didn't lower his marks at all, because it was programmed individually to be unwinnable. He never understood using an unwinnable scenario but wasn't going to try Captain James Kirk's answer which was to cheat.

The final language and society that he concentrated on for the year were Denobulan. Outside of the Terrans and Vulcans that he studied his last year the Denobulans were one of the first UFP signatories. He enjoyed this year's studies.

At the end of his Cadetship, he was promoted to Ensign. While he continued to work on his University study by correspondence. He expected to be Dr. Edwards at roughly the time of making Lieutenant junior grade, making him Lieutenant Dr. The difference is as a Science Officer there were no dust jackets away from the science lab, which he was happy with because he would likely just wear a science jumpsuit when on lab duty.

2389
Fleet career
USS Copernicus
After promotion to Ensign Edwards was assigned to the Oberth class vessel USS Copernicus that searched out new life and languages in the Galaxy. Anthony was in his element on this ship as it was exactly what he was trained for. A short while after being promoted to Ensign Anthony's youngest brother Michael and father were killed during a training cruise accident. Almost a year later to the day his mother missing her baby desperately killed herself. At the end of his first three-year mission, the ship's life ended in mothballs and he was transferred with the entire crew to the brand new USS Serpens. As part of the Mothballing of the Copernicus, it gave him a date to get to Earth for his Philosophy graduation which he had finished just after his brother's death.

USS Serpens
With a new vessel and some small rejigging of the crew to fill retirees saw Lt(jg) Edwards was promoted from a Science Officer of Linguistics to Assistant Chief Science Officer aboard the new one. This vessel was less science and more a cruiser with a science mission.

USS Wolff
A year or two into the new cruise Edwards was positionally promoted and transferred to the USS Wolff as Chief Science Officer. As USS Wolff was scheduled for a refit and he had three months leave coming to Lt(jg) Edwards Ph.D. was seconded to a science team that needed a linguist For the second half of the refit period which he thoroughly enjoyed.

2395
On the 18th April Captain Teliserra called him into her ready room. He wondered what it was about, and was pleasantly surprised by the issue with his science departments reports inaccuracy. There was a staffing issue, apparently, the Chief was wearing the incorrect rank pip. Well, he had been waiting for such a long time since his last promotion.
