Personality & Traits

General Overview Helena is graced with a sharp mind. As noted she seems to have a near perpetual smile of amusement as though she has a secret that she alone knows. She is forgiving but does have a bit of temper at times that comes out with a rather sharp tongue.

She always prefers to be called HG.
Strengths & Weaknesses Her mind is her greatest strength and also her greatest weakness. She is great at figuring out many puzzles and making intuitive leaps of thought but she also forgets that not everyone else is capable of keeping up.
Ambitions To 'peek' as she says under the skirts of the universe to see how it all really works.
Hobbies & Interests She loves puzzles and games where mind is involved. She also likes to read and have holodeck adventures especially those based upon the novels of her distant ancestor.
Likes / Dislikes Anything stimulating to the mind and pleasurable to the body she loves.
Boring, drool people especially Vulcans.
Languages Spoken She has a rather striking formal English accent. She seems to have an amazing ability to pick up other languages but does not apply herself more than necessary and thus is not fully linguistic in them.

Character History / Other

Misc Notes HG does not care much for formality though if the occasion arises she can pretend good enough.
OOC Notes She has a large complicated tattoo on her back which when asked she claims is a representation of twin time physics
Education Doctorate degree but do not dare call her anything but HG.

She has forgotten where she stuck her Zee-Magness.
Personal History Helena was born in London at the Atlas House in the former UK to Robert and Emma Wells as their first and only daughter and junior by a year to her brother. The family is the direct descendants of the famous author Herbert George Wells.

Growing up Helena was sent off to various boarding schools where she quickly became the top of her class. Though well liked enough by her fellow students and teachers, they all uniformly felt that she was 'distant' as though Helena was another step or two beyound them. While her grades where excellent, she almost universally was remarked as being aloof and more than once making arguments with her teachers and universally being correct.

She spent time at Oxford on a fast track graduating with understudies and then graduate studies with of course a Summa Cum Laude. She then moved to the former States and did postdoctoral studies at Cal Tech. It was here that she formulated many theories on gravity and space-time. She realized that many of her colleagues were soon using some of her work to further her own career but the politics of Academia were such that a relatively unknown had little pull. Thus she began to keep much of her work to herself but the whole experience soured her on academia and she began to cast about for something new.

Helena knew that the most attractive way forward to get to the leading edge of sciences was to enter the Academy and join StarFleet. Her grades and her tests made it a near forgone conclusion that she would be accepted.

Helena of course entered the science track and it was in her last year that she proposed a new mathematical model to describe how Modified Newtonian Dynamics worked utilizing equations and theories she had formulated earlier. She won a prestigious science award - the Zee-Magness prize. It was nearly unheard of for someone her age and she was next to Robert Daystrom one of the youngest receipents. Though she went through the motions of the award, it languishes in a drawer someplace.

While she was offered a spot at several prestiges Federation science institutes, HG as she prefers to be called, felt that to understand the universe you had to be in her words 'a part of it'.

Disputes with various Fleet officers about ordering her to various lab bound jobs at the Daystrom Institute lead her to resign from Fleet. She threatened to go to work for the Klingons as they at least had vision to look beyound. While the threat was not taken fully seriously it at least got her a grudging ability to ask a star ship to take her own.
