Physical Description Mina is of average height for most humanoid, with pale, almost greyish skin. She has her mother’s facial ridges, but her jaw and chin ridges are none-existent, and her neck ridges are significantly softened. She has her father’s tell-tale nose ridges, speaking of her Bajoran ancestry as much as her Cardassian one. She wears her dark hair long, usually free when she can get away with it, but on duty she will put it up into the more expected intricate high buns. Despite the application of blue colouring on the forehead teardrop ridge is considered proper, Mina is never seen with it.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Calm, collected and with a no-nonsense attitude, Mina Kar has always tried to be the best she can be. She can be cunning and manipulative when needed it, although she reserves that to the paperwork to acquire rare items needed. She has a calm, sarcastic sense of humour, and is usually seen with her head down getting work done. She isn’t the most social person there is, but always make the effort to join in when she happens to be around people. If anything, her stubborn streak has made her do well in her career, but also gotten her into trouble.

Being raised by her mother for most of her life, who was very firm on her having a good understanding of where she is from, Mina has the burden of knowing the history of her mother, and of her father. It has given her a little bit of a complex, where she often silences her own suspicions to blindly trust the underdog. She also has outwardly thick skin, since at a glance she is unmistakably Cardassian to those that aren’t too familiar with hybrids. Even then, she finds herself having to justify her parents’ love, which she believes was genuine.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Mina knows the right people within Starfleet, and the Federation, to get a hold of items and equipment that can’t be easily replicated. Her network of contacts is kept very organised, which is also one of her strengths.

Mina may appear as calm and collected most of the time, but underneath it boils a temper. She also has a severe chip on her shoulder about what she is, something she isn’t ready to work her way through. One wrong word has in the past led to a fist fight.

Character History / Other

Personal History Mina Kar was born in Jalanda City, on Bajor. Her mother was a Cardassian scientist and her father was a lab technician that worked with them. When Cardassia withdrew from Bajor, Mina’s mother and father took her with Lejonis, which was known for being politically neutral. Mina’s mother, Ania, knew that there was only a matter of time before there was a conflict between the Federation and the Cardassians, and wanted her little family to have piece. She was disowned by her family, sealing her fate to forever being exiled from her homeworld.

Mina was five when they moved to Lejonis, and nine when the war broke out. Her father passed away in the first year of the war, in a shuttle accident, although her mother would always maintain he was killed. Despite the loss of her father, Mina learned all she could about Bajoran culture at her mother’s insistence, although she never found any connection to the Prophets. In the years after the war, as she was becoming an older teenager, Mina realised she wanted to see more than just one planet. With Cardassia out of the question, Mina set her stubbornness onto becoming a member of Starfleet. Her mother was unimpressed, but knew better than to fight it if she wanted a relationship with her daughter in the future.

Mina joined Starfleet, enlisting rather than becoming an officer, deciding it would be easier to be allowed in if she aimed lower ranks rather than higher. She decided to go into Operations, having a talent for organising anyway. Again, it was to avoid ruffling too many feathers. It was 2382, less than ten years since the war, and Mina encountered various people who had a lot to say about Cardassians. They also had a lot to say about her father, assuming that her father was Cardassian and she was the result of a concubine. Mina corrected them, usually with sharp words, occasionally with a hip throw.

After finishing her training, she started out as a crewman on the USS Miranda. She spent a lot of time doing the lowest of the low jobs, but did it diligently. Eventually, she made friends, and her Chief clearly saw something in her, because she didn’t stay a crewman for long. She climbed the ranks of the enlisted, until she made Petty Officer 1st Class. In 2395, she was transferred to the USS Wolff as the new Quartermaster in Operations.
