She also hates to lose and it somewhat competitive. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths include - Engineering proficiency - Mechanical engineering - Athletic Weaknesses - Hot-headed - Perfectionist - Very competitive |
|
| Ambitions | Marie's ambitions do vary. Unlike most Starfleet officers she doesn't have a desire to sit in the center chair. She is driven by her need to tinker and explore mechanics and the art of engineering. She has considered one day settling down with the right person, but that's not on her radar at the moment. She is content with being an engineer, doing what she does best and helping others. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | Marie has an interesting hobby of designing and building clocks and old clockwork toys. She was brought up around them as it had been the family trade and business for hundreds of years. She has continued the tradition in her own way, whilst still becoming a Starfleet engineer. Her other interests and hobbies often change depending on what she's into at that time. She enjoys anything mechanical and often has 'projects' on the go to help her unwind, anything from an old car engine to steam engines. If its got a mechanical expert, she's interested. |

Character History / Other
| Personal History | Marie was born in the city of Besançon, a French city not far from the Switzerland border. Fir hundreds of years the city has and still is known for its clockwork. Matie's family had been living in the city and producing fine intigrate and highly accurate clocks and clockwork devices for hundreds of years. When she was born her father had just taken over the family shop and workshop. It was here that Marie spent many hours of her early life. They lived in the apartment above the shop, yet Marie had free range of the entire building. They were a known family of clockmakers, and respected for their work even into the twenty fourth century. At age seven Marie's father began to teach her about designing and building clocks. Everything from the design of the cogs, to the paint kn the clock face was important. At first she thought it was boring and tedious, but eventually she began to show interest. With help from her father she built her first prototype clock at age nine. However it didn't work. Marie lost her temper and smashed it to pieces in pure frustration with a hammer. However, that day she learnt that one failure could motivate to a success. So she tried again, and yet another failure. It took four more attempts until she built her first clock and by that time she was twelve. She had spent months designing it, weeks assembling it and it was worth it. Her own clock. Marie's clock was added to a high shelf that ran around each wall of the shop. Upon this shelf was the first clock made by each and every Breguet. Hers sat next to her fathers, who sat next to his fathers and so on. She was intensely proud, but at such an age where all she wanted was more, making clocks was not enough. By age sixteen Marie was not only making clocks for the shop, helping manage the desk, but had also taken an interest in mechanical engineering. She had excelled in school at mathematics, physics and chemistry and was showing signs of being a fine engineer. So much so that when she graduated at age eighteen, she was approached by a Starfleet recruitment officer. She would be the first Breguet to ever venture into space if she joined. Her father was against the idea, however her mother was more open minded. Eventually after a lot of arguing and a lot of heated discussion Marie took the Starfleet Academy entrance exam. Not long after, she attended Starfkeet Academy. She was lucky enough to get into the officers tract and finally into the Corps of engineers training. The whole aspect of Starship Engineering blew her mind! Everything was si advanced, yet she could see how it was all built up from the basics. She ended up diving head first into her studies, and got herself lost in the world of Engineering. She never visited home once, she didn't want to face her father. She graduated the Academy and only her mother attended. She wasn't surprised, her father never accepted that she would stray away from the family traditions and join Starfleet. Her first assignment was aboard the USS Resolute as an Engineering Officer. She found the Resolute very different from anything she had ever encountered. However soon learnt that older ships were fun to tinker with. She stayed aboard the Resolute for three years until she had just turned twenty five. She was then put into the normal transfer and promotion pool. She managed to get her Lieutenant JG rank not long after, and was lucky enough to stay aboard the Resolute. She still however remained as just an Engineering Officer. Unfortunately she was held back from a positional promotion after she had smacked Ensign Burton over the head with her tool kit. Apparently he had lied to her about the state of the plasma conduits on deck three and she had to replace them before they ruptured. Marie had argued that if she hadn't checked then they may have ruptured and caused people to become injured or worse. So she said that the gentle 'reminder' she gave him was justified. She wasn't very popular after that. Other engineers started referring to her as 'The Fiery Princess'. A nickname that seems to follow her even to this day. She only stayed aboard the Resolute for an additional year after that before being transferred to the USS Leeds. Her no-nonsense reputation had travelled to different ships and she was accepted as the ships new assistant chief engineer. There she discovered how to be a leader and how to make decisions for the department. Chief Wallis took it upon himself to tutor her and they became close friends. They did butt heads at times, but Marie grew to respect him and to trust his judgement. After two years Wallis told Marie that she was ready. Ready to get get her own engine room and lead her own people, put her own mark on Starfleet. Marie did just that, and applied for any openings of Chief Engineer she could find. After weeks she was finally accepted. Aboard a Luna Class vessel, the USS Wolffe, with the rank of Full Lieutenant. |
