| Personal History | Once a rising star of the Cardassian military, Aurel made his name commanding the warship Travar. It became known for decisive strikes and having a captain who never hesitated. His record was clean, efficient and just the right amount of ruthless. But then he crossed the line. It’s listed in official reports as a 'strategic disagreement' with a superior officer during a border engagement. Unofficially, Aurel humiliated a Legate in front of half the fleet. There are rumours he disobeyed a direct order...not out of incompetence or anger, but because he was convinced it was the wrong decision. Worse still, he was right...and that was unforgiveable to the Cardassian hierarchy. Rather than risk making him a martyr or admitting the original mistake, Central Command reassigned him...quietly but permanently. Now, Gul Salvek commands a science vessel...a modest, under-armed ship that handles stellar surveys, anomaly cataloguing and observation. There’s no doubt the move was a demotion, and Aurel treats it as such. He refers to the scientific crew as 'enthusiasts' and encounters without tactical engagement as 'a waste of an engine'. But he keeps his uniform immaculate, his tone cutting and his expectations ruthlessly high. Especially for a scientific crew he considers unprepared for 'real service'. Yet, despite his open disdain, his ship runs with near military precision. Aurel’s strategic mind is as sharp as ever; he treats stellar hazards like enemy ambushes, contact scenarios like tactical operations, and when something goes wrong he’s still very, very good at keeping his crew alive. |
