Alfa 177 canine

Native to the harsh planet of Alfa 177, this small dog-like animal is known for its hyper behavior and bad temper. Adults of the species grow about 24 inches in length, and about 8-10 inches high. They are covered with long, thick hair to protect them from the frigid temperatures of their native planet. Other distinguishing characteristics are a small horn atop the head, a line of short spikes along the back, and two long antennae. Typically they are a shade of brown in color. The canines live in small caves or burrows they build underground for warmth. Females can give birth up to three or four in a litter, and they live in small packs of several generations. Although it can live off the hardy lichen-like grasses of the planet, it's main food source are other smaller mammals, grubs, and small fish.

"Alfies" as they are often called, are prized pets by many species and can be readily trained to obey commands.
