Chiefly a civilian/NCO role and usually a representative of the Ambassador’s own race, the Ambassadorial Aide is appointed to oversee all administrative duties pertaining to their Ambassador’s official and social engagements. Acting as a communication link between the Ambassador and third parties, the Ambassadorial Aide is responsible for diary management, correspondence, and secretarial services during official functions and administrative support with all paperwork as well as ensuring provisions are made ahead of time for any cultural, religious and personal requirements the Ambassador may have prior to each summit. Granted some autonomy in the execution of their duties, providing they operate within the law and do not impede official procedure, the Ambassadorial Aide is empowered to speak on the Ambassador’s behalf through the issuing of official statements and may, at times, represent the Ambassador if all parties are in agreeance.
