Bowling is a game in which bowler throws a heavy ball down a wooden lane to knock over pins. The bowler has 10 frames of two throws each to knock down all 10 pins. A stike, a throw in which all the pins go down in the first throw, allows the bowler to add the total of the next two throws to that frame. A spare, a throw in which all the pins go down on the second throw, allows the bowler to add the total of his next throw to that frame. A strike or spare in the 10th frame allows the bowler to throw balls for their bonus. A perfect score is 300 and consists of 12 consecutive strikes in one game. While it is an individual sport, teams can be made for league play. Bowling is still popular in the 24th century. The USS Andromeda has modified some of its storage areas to house a small alley of 10 lanes.
