Position Description

A Chaplain can go by many other names, including, but not limited to, Priest, Preacher, Pastor, Bible Man (or Woman), Bishop, Father (or Mother), Padre, Brother (or Sister for the females), 'Hey Mister' (or Miss for the ladies), and the title which is meant more as an insult than a real title, Bible Thumper.

What Does A Chaplain Do? The mission of a Chaplain varies between each person. Travelling Chaplains mainly are seen to travel the galaxy, spreading the word of their order and trying to help those who seem lost find their way. Chaplains who are employed by specific groups or for specific occupations, such as marriage celebrates, find they should be learned in more than one school of faith, as people of different faiths will come to them when they are the only one around for many light years. For the most part, Chaplains should be skilled in deaths, marriages, christenings, births, other religious occasions and ceremonies for Klingons, Cardassians, Bajorans, Humans, Vulcans, and Betazoids.

How Do I Become A Chaplain? Supposedly there are still schools that teach strictly Theology, as well as Temples and Monasteries which dedicate themselves to their faith and religion. It would be considered unorthodox for an apprentice to learn all they know only from the Chaplain, as their view on Religions and Faiths would then be biased to how the particular Chaplain thinks and feels. While all Chaplains should be neutral about other beliefs, it is simply mortal to be unable to, sometimes, for some people. Teaching, learning, and qualification methods would vary not only from belief to belief, but also from species to species. For more information, seek within for the answer, and pray.
