The Dead Skull Privateers

The Dead Skull Privateers are a band of mercenaries that have been in the services of many groups both legitimate and criminal across the Alpha and Beta quadrants including the Ferengi Alliance, the Breen Confederacy, the Orion Syndicate and many high profile individuals, it's believed they're currently in the employ of Tikhar Mahan who through the recent assassination of a rival and claiming his territory has expanded his small criminal empire across the entire planet of Saelon 2.

The privateers are willing to do virtually anything if paid enough, there have been recorded incidents of torture, mutilation, kidnapping, assassinations, bombings and outright mass murder. They are known to possess several small warships.

Incidents with the Wolff

The Wolff has met Dead Skull Privateer vessels on several occasions.

The first was a distress call from the freighter Apollo under attack by unidentified craft, the Wolff arrived and a brief battle was fought. After momentarily blinding the Wolff's sensors with a torpedo blast one of the craft escape with its target; several cases of ultra fine dilithium crystals.

Back at their home of Starbase 54 the Wolff was tasked to investigate why the nearby Kappa-4 research station had gone quiet, when the ship arrived the station had been attacked but one of the attacking vessels was still there, its warp drive disabled and caught in a tractor beam. Security teams boarded the ship to secure any information they would find before the pirates finally self destructed the ship.

Using the information recovered from the boarding action the Wolff was eventually able to track down the other ships that had attacked Kappa-4 to a hidden supply base built into an asteroid field. After a short battle the privateers detonated explosive charges in the asteroid field the massive wave of explosions and debris destroy the base and their ships, the Wolff escaping destruction but suffering heavy damage. It is assumed the advanced sensor equipment stolen from the research base is destroyed in the explosion.

Handing over what information they've managed to gather to Starfleet Intelligence the identity of the privateers and their potential client is revealed; Tikhar Mahan. Permission to go after Tikhar is denied but carte blanch is given to disrupt Dead Skull Privateers operations whenever encountered

Since the destruction of the supply base the Dead Skull Privateers have not been encountered by any starfleet vessels.
