Federation Standard

Federation Standard (originally and still commonly known as English) is a language widely spoken on the planet Earth. Modern English was spread around Earth as the United Kingdom expanded its borders and colonies. As a result the language is widely spoken in such places as the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

At the founding of the United Federation of Planets, English was named as one of the primary languages of the Federation (along with Vulcan, Andorian, and Tellarite). Over the ensuing centuries, English became the primary language of government and diplomacy within the Federation, coming to be known by the nomenclature Federation Standard.
