Flight Suit

The standard flight suit is worn as the basic combat uniform of all Aerospace and Marine pilots. It is a black one-piece jumper with several pockets for equipment and personal items. The right chest carries the squadron patch when applicable, and the left may carry the aerospace craft type logo if desired. A nameplate with the aviator's wings, name, rank, and branch of service (Starfleet or SFMC) is worn on the upper chest.

There is more to this suit than meets the eye. For instance, it is made to feel like cloth for comfort and durability. It is actually constructed of Polystylete, a material that when exposed to a non-oxygen atmosphere, such as the vacuum of space, changes its molecular structure to a dense non-breathable material. When worn with flight boots, gloves and a helmet it becomes a limited duration, self contained space suit.

Also built-in to the lower portion of the suit is a waste collection device to prevent uncomfortable situations on long flights. Most new suits also feature a field enhancement mesh in the legs for the seat forcefield.
