The Gallamite are a humanoid species originating from the planet Gallam. They are members of the United Federation of Planets. Physically, their skin-tones cover a spectrum from white-gold, to amber-gold, through to olive-bronze. The only constant between all Gallamites are their toothy smiles and "see through" heads. A Gallamite's skull, and skin from the neck up, is completely translucent. As a result, the brain, the internal organs and the musculature from the neck up are visible with the naked eye.

Their cultures vary from continent to continent. Their most common greeting translates to the greek word "Khairete", which means both "hello" and "goodbye".

Many Gallamites who work off-world for Starfleet or for the Federation wear hoods. While Gallamites are not ashamed of their unique appearances, the traditional garb is a cultural throwback to the time of First Contact with the Federation, when the Gallamaites wished to appear less offputting and threatening. Many Gallamites have forgotten the original purpose of the hoods, and simply accept the hoods as stylish.
