The Gorn Hegemony is the government body of the Gorn, a reptilian species, encountered by the U.S.S. Enterprise during its first mission under Captain James T. Kirk.
Although the first encounter with the Hegemony was hostile, as they were claiming Cestus III, a world which was occupied by a Federation settlement, the two powers have since established a moderately cordial relationship.
In 2382, the Gorn Hegemony's Emperor, Azaris, was murdered by a non-corporeal lifeform. The lifeform, taking the shape of a young girl, was madly obsessed with the only suspect in the murder, Doctor Martin Bridgeford.
