Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, also known as the Chief Diplomat, is the highest governmental position devoted to Diplomatic services. He/she is responsible for making sure that the Federation's interests are met. If in the event that the Federation President and Vice President are unable to conduct their duties, the Foreign Minister is next in line to assume power of the government.

This person heads the Federation Diplomatic Service, seen by its members as the civilian equivalent to Starfleet, and not to be confused with Starfleet's own Diplomatic Corps. The Chief Diplomat is appointed directly by the President.

The Foreign Minster is to provide counsel to government officials. They are also to host foreign officials during political events and go to represent the Federation during visits to other government institutions.
