Novan

Novans are the Human inhabitants of the planet Terra Nova. The original inhabitants came from Earth in 2078 aboard the ship SS Conestoga and quickly began to identify themselves separate of "Terrans". When it was decided to send additional colonists to the planet, the Novans resisted. Soon after, a meteor impact devestated the colony and drove the survivors underground.

When communication was lost, Earth considered the colony lost as well. The survivors, meanwhile, believed they had been punished by Earth authorities for their defiance. That belief was corrected in 2151 when the NX-01 Enterprise visited and moved the colonists to a safer part of the planet.

Terra Nova again began to thrive and was admitted to the Federation in 2178.
