Parisses (or parrises) Squares is a vigorous, violent team sport played on a number of worlds by the 24th Century. It involves two teams of four players, where substitutions can be made to rotate in rested players. Equipment used includes a tight-fitting padded uniform, eye protection, and an ion mallet. As the name implies, the playing field is a square sectioned of into smaller squares and has obstacles such as ramps and nets to overcome.

The game is quite popular around the Federation and has a large teen following, much to the chagrin of parents. It is a physically demanding sport, and injuries are quite common. Parisses squares has a sanctioned professional league, as well as numerous semi-pro and amateur ones. It is played at the Olympics. Starfleet Academy has a team, and it is common for various ships and stations to have teams that play among the fleets.
