Psi Upsilon III

Psi Upsilon III is a small Class M planet, the third of four located in the Psi Upsilon System in the Beta Quadrant. Water covers about half the planet, and there is a diverse and rich plant life. Native species of animals are few, but many domesticated animals from her sister planet Psi Upsilon IV were brought and raised here.

The Napeans were the first to occupy the planet in the mid-22nd Century. Due to constant attacks and raids by Nausicaan pirates, the colonies were abandoned by 2202. The Vulcans found the planet in 2226 and made contact with the Napeans; the two species agreed to a mutual settlement agreement when the Vulcans pledged to keep the pirates at bay. It took nearly a hundred years for the population to reach 100,000 due mostly to an agaran-based economy. Shortly after the Napeans joined the Federation in 2342, plans were made to build an annex of the Starfleet Academy there and construction was complete by 2349 (although additions are almost always being made).
