Remembrance

The Remembrance is an underground organization devoted to the destruction of the Cardassian Union. Their movement seeks vengeance for the massacre of the Maquis as performed by the Jem'Hadar and the Cardassians during the Dominion War. Its core members consist of the loved ones and family members of the Maquis. Over time, the Remembrance has recruited other members who have been harmed or violated by the Cardassians and the Jem'Hadar.

What is known about the Remembrance suggests that they are butchers and terrorists. They have attacked very few targets, but nearly every strike has been highly efficient and highly successful.

Its symbol is that of the Cardassian Union with a swastika in the center. It is considered to be a perversion of Bajoran anti-Cardassian iconography from the time of the Occupation of Bajor.

The Remembrance came to the attention of Starfleet when the USS Pendragon was charged with locating one-hundred convicts who escaped from the Federation Penal Colony on Vengratha II. All of the escapees joined up, once the Remembrance provided the resources for their prison break. When the escaped convicts used their Remembrance-provided starship to attack Cardassian vessels along the border, the USS Pendragon was forced to destroy it.
