The Squadron Leader is in charge of all things related to his Squadron's fighters, generally a responsibility for 8 to 24 starfighters [2 to 4 Flights]. The Squadron Leader is responsible for all the personnel assigned to the Squadron on the ship/facility, and ensuring the combat readiness, correct mission specific load outs, maintenance checks, and repairs are done so all Fighters are mission ready.
A Squadron Leader Reports to the Group or Wing Commander. If the Squadron Leader is the senior starfighter pilot assigned to the starship, starbase or facility they report to the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer and is a member of the Senior Staff.
