Starbase 310

Starbase 310 is a Starfleet facility located on the surface of Alpha Trianguli III in the Alpha Trianguli System. The first incarnation of the base was established in 2349, and finished in 2353 mostly in response to Cardassian aggression in Sector 21505. Built upon a barren plateau, Starbase 310 is an extensive complex of buildings and underground facilities. It has limited ship repair abilities but massive medical and scientific capabilities. Because it is located close to Cardassian space, it also has an elaborate defensive grid. (TNG: "Journey's End")

The base was attacked by a Klingon fast-attack squadron in 2372, during the Second Federation-Klingon War and suffered moderate damage...damage that was still under repair when the Dominion War broke out. However, the Federation Alliance put significant resources into the bases' defense and was able to hold onto the system through no less than seven Dominion assaults. In a twist of irony, it was a Klingon fleet that repealed the last attempt in 2375. Quickly repaired, Starbase 310 was a major casualty collection and treatment point for the Cardassians following the attempted genocide by their former allies.

Hospital Number Three is a "teaching hospital" for medical students and interns of Starfleet Medical.
