The System 3 disrupter is a type of disrupter cannon utilised by the Cardassian Union, developed from a Klingon Type 8 disrupter captured during the Betretka Nebula Incident. The Cardassian weapon packed a comparable punch and rate of fire until Dominion technologies refined the design, significantly lowering its power requirements and enabling Cardassian vessels to mount comparatively more than a Klingon vessel could.
