Historian
This officer specializes in understanding the historical developments and is in charge of the history section of the department. This role entails the detailed study of civilizations past histories, there implications, and involvement in the future development of cultures.
Although s/he is considered a Science Officer the position also has close ties to the Alien Archaeologist / Anthropologist, as well diplomacy. Under diplomacy the historian is charged with the maintaining of historical documentation regarding the Federation and Starfleet's diplomatic endeavors for the use in first contact procedures, treaty preparations, and other such cases when precedence must be found to support such an action. These individuals are qualified to undertake any tasks that could be asked of a general Diplomatic Officer; however, they specialize in the historical aspect of this department.
