A Company Commander is the Marine in command of an 128-Marine company. The position is usually held by a Captain or Major in a regimental setting. As a shipborne, company strength detachment the Company Commander, acting as detachment commander, could be a Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel.

The mandate of a Company Commander is to command their company in accordance with the orders from their Marine Commanding Officer (in a detachment) or their battalion commander (in a regiment setting). As well they are expected to issue orders in keeping with their mission objectives to their subordinate platoons. Companies are expected to act independantly for long periods of time and will often have service and support units, such as medical, engineering, etc., assigned to them and will often work with regular Starfleet personnel.

The Company Commander reports to his battalion commander and/or battaltion executive officer.
