Organian

Organians are an extremely powerful non-corporeal species that call the planet Organia home. They consider themselves "beings of pure thought", having evolved from humanoid form to escape physical and mental attributes of pain and suffering. While always looking for smiliarly evolved and intelligent lifeforms, Organians detest becoming involved in the affairs of other species.

Physiology

Organians evolved from a humanoid existence millennia ago. In their natural state they are floating orbs of energy. However, they can and often do take the form of other species to make visitors and guests at ease. They have immense powers and knowledge, similiar to beings of the Q Continuum. The extent of their abilities are not known, but they have been seen changing shape and/or occupying the bodies of others. Organians can also revive the dead and project themselves in several places at once. Being aware of events over great distances is also another witnessed trait.

It has yet to be determined if the species is immortal or just extremely long-lived. It is known that most modern weapons cannot harm them.

History

Starfleet's first encounter with the Organians took place in 2154, although no one was aware of it at the time. The species had observed a planet that was home to a silicon-based virus for centuries, hoping to come across other intelligent beings such as themselves. They would allow visitors to become infected and watch to see if they could find a cure. Such was the case when the Enterprise NX-01 explored the planet. Two Organians eventually occupied the bodies of several crewmembers as they observed how the crew dealt with the virus and their dying shipmates. Even though they deemed humans lacking intellectually, they admired their compassion and sacrifice. Even though the Organians relayed this to Capt. Archer and his crew, they returned everything as it was and wiped away all the evidence of the encounter.

The first "official" contact came in 2267 during the First Federation-Klingon War. Klingons invaded Organia, and the USS Enterprise was dispatched to convince the natives to accept Federation protection. At the time it was believed that the Organians were a simple, unindustrialized humanoid species (as that was the form they had taken on at the time). They made known their disdain for external affairs and refused to get involved. Only when they foresaw the destruction that would be wrought by a continued war did the Organians expose their true selves. Using their powers, they forced an end to the war with the signing of the Treaty of Organia.

*NOTE* Per OF Rules & Guidelines, Organians fall within the realm of "non-humanoid races" and therefore are NOT playable as a character in OF.
