Mission:
Misson 1 - Rebirth
Location: various
Timeline: 26th january 2395
ON:
=/\= Bridge to Commander Tigran=/\= Came the voice of Lt Delvok.
=/\= Go ahead. =/\= Taliserra replied, she hoped this wasn't too important as she was walking the corridors trying to get Lashell to sleep.
=/\= Message from the starbase, a Lt Commander Anette requests permission to come onboard, she has orders to report to you immediately.=/\=
=/\= Tell them permission granted and I will meet the her in transporter room one.=/\=
=/\= Understood, brige out. =/\=
"Looks like you're going to have to come with me this time." She told Lashell.
=== Transporter room 1 ===
Taliserra strode into the transporter room and stood just beside the console. "Is our guest ready to beam over?" she asked the operator.
"Yes Ma'am, she's already on the way." the young crewman replied.
As Claire materialized on the transporter pad, she blinked at the shift in bright lights. She then stepped down off of the raised platform and offered who she assumed was the Captain based on the rank insignia and her recall of the ship's registry she'd read earlier a PaDD with her orders. "Captain, I'm Lieutenant Commander Claire Anette, your new XO. I look forward to serving with you."
Shifting the bundle of baby in her arms a little Taliserra took the Padd. "Welcome to the Wolff." She smiled at the taller woman. "I had wondered how long command was going to make me sweat for before assigning me a first officer."
"Thank you, Captain. Just long enough to make things difficult, as usual. May I ask what our first mission will be?" Grabbing her bag off of the transporter platform, Claire tossed it over one shoulder, then eyed the 'bundle of joy' the Captain carried.
Slipping the Padd into her pocket Taliserra motioned towards the door and then started walking. "Our first assignment is to get this ship back out into space and everything tested and approved, we have been drydocked here for six months undergoing repairs and a refit."
Following along, Claire nodded. "Not surprising from what I've heard. Frankly, I'm amazed the deck plates were still intact. I also wouldn't be surprised if Starfleet had people combing the ship for surprises behind our backs, just in case. Scanning everyone and every device for quantum signatures that don't match that of this universe."
"They did and we caught them doing it." Tali said. "Two of the spacedock repair staff were SF intel in disguise, the didn't find anyone or anything that shouldn't have been there."
Claire sighed softly - she should have known SFI was involved. "That's reassuring at least. Then again, how many were not caught? And if they did find anything, would they tell us or just remove them from the picture? I've worked with Intel before and they rarely show even part of their hand, let alone their whole hand. But, they do thorough work - of that we can trust. Whether they found anything or not, we can be sure that there's nothing to be found now."
"I am not a liker of intelligence operatives." Taliserra said as the pair stepped into a turbolift. "Deck 2." She called out. "They have their uses but I don't like them on my ship."
"I'm not a fan either. They break protocol and security measures at a whim. I can understand the need for it now and then, but it seems they do it just to flaunt the power." Claire settled into the turbolift as it moved. It was far nicer than the models they had on her last assignment. Then again, a Rhode Island class didn't have many turbolift shafts to begin with so they didn't have much need for the 'nice' turbolifts.
Lashell stirred a little and Taliserra shifted her a little. "ssshh, it's ok, we will be stopping soon." She turned to Claire. "For some reason she does not like riding in turbolifts."
"Understandable. It's probably the high pitched whine of the EM drives. I'm told children can be extra sensitive to such things with their tiny ears." Claire wasn't the biggest fan of the turbolift sounds either, but they were better than some other sounds found around the ship.
"It could be, hopefully she will grow out of it." Gradually the turbolift came to a stop and the doors opened. Taliserra stepped out and led Claire down a corridor till they reached a doorway. "Here is your office."
Pressing the door controls, the first thing Claire saw when the doors opened was the massive stack of PaDDs on the desk. "Ugh... That's a lot of paperwork..." She immediately pressed the door controls again to close and reopen the door but the stack remained there. "I don't suppose my quarters are on the same deck? The transporter officer said the rest of my things were being beamed straight to them but that it might take a few hours for operations to get through the manifest."
"I hate paperwork just as much." Tali remarked. "Your quarters are a little further down this corridor."
"I think the paperwork can wait a little while then." Claire closed the door again and turned to follow Taliserra a bit further.
"Tell me Claire, did you request this posting or were you simply assigned here?" Tali asked as they walked.
"I requested a position as XO on a medium size vessel and put my name in for consideration with several ships. This wasn't one of them that I remember, but I also don't remember it being on the available list." Claire glanced at a few of the office doors as they walked, trying to memorize their locations for future reference.
"Most of the new crew were assigned here rather than applied specifically." Taliserra said. "It seems with how things are going near the romulan border that explorers are not popular assignments right now." More and more vessels were being assigned to watch the border as various romulan factions vied for power.
"This may sound crazy, but I was actually hoping for a ship heading out to patrol the Romulan border. I have a friend out on a starbase near Galorndon Core that I talk to now and then that says things have been tense lately and I'd like to think I could make a difference out there." Claire was a bit crazy at times - this was one of them. "The Federation has a lot of potential enemies and if a two meter tall albino with a phaser can give them pause even for a moment... Well... I'll take it. If not, maybe my cosplay skills will scare them off."
"Cosplay?" Tali said, she had heard of this unusual earth hobby but never met anyone who did it. "What do you cosplay as?"
Claire paused for a moment, wondering how far into this she should go with the Captain. "I've got almost thirty different outfits now, but my favorites are from Rozen Maiden, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, and Genda Gama Gakuraki Girls. I tend to dress up as the villains, but I have a few of the side heroin outfits. It all depends on if my unique complexion matches the role. If you get reports of me walking around in a strange outfit, I'm probably on my way to or from the holodeck. I'll try not to stop for too many pictures though."
Taliserra thought for a moment. "I have to admit I have no idea who or what they are but it does sound interesting. I prefer more quiet things, reading, tinkering and swimming."
"Cosplay has a quiet side as well. I make every costume and prop and do hours of research on each character. Then there's programming for my holocepter if there's any effects involved." Claire shrugged a bit as they walked. "And then I practice in private before I even put myself out there to make sure I get it right. The actual live performances aren't that common. You might find a good convention that lasts a few hours of in character time, but that's about it. Everything else is holodeck."
"So there is an acting part to it?" Taliserra asked. "From what I heard it is mostly dressing up."
"Oh no, there's both costuming and playacting - hence the term 'cosplay'," Claire explained, hoping they were close to her new quarters. just how big was this ship anyway?
Eventually Taliserra stoppped in front of a door way. "And here are your quarters, I only moved out of here a few days ago, so if you find anything you don't recognise it is more than likely mine."
"i'll keep an eye out. Thank you, Captain." Claire pressed the door controls and stepped into the empty quarters.
"I will leave you to get settled in, it is time I gave Lashell a feed." Taliserra said from the doorway.
"Good luck with that. I'm going to let station control know I'm here and see when I can expect my..." Claire didn't have long to wait as a bulk transport sounded not far behind her. "...luggage... I guess not long at all. Thank you, Captain. I'll see you soon."
"See you soon Commander." Taliserra said smiling, with that she turned to continue walking down the corridor.
