Misson 1 - Rebirth

Navore was in the Lounge; he seemed to spend a lot of his off duty time here; it is where people come to visit with one another and socialize. Navore liked being social; it seemed ingrained in his nature, so when he saw the woman that heads above the rest, in a literal sense, he stood and waited to make eye contact to offer her a place to sit; after all , he should get to know the New Second in Command.
And catch her eye, he did. After a quick stop at the bar for a drink, Claire headed over to his table and sat down across from him. "Beautiful view. I'm Claire Anette, the new XO. I saw you waving me over. Thanks."
He gave a slight bow. "Navore Kellen." The smile radiated as he took his seat. "I admit I reconized you from the file of your transfer. I wqas helping the Captain so I might have had a slight advantage here, sorry." He made eye contact. "Why is it fleet picture never do justice; have to be plain I suppose but you might think they could do more with them?"
"They're supposed to be professional, not pinups... But..." Pulling out a small PaDD, Claire pulled up a few of her more... interesting pictures... Then handed it to Navore. "I do dress up in cosplay now and then. I enjoy my holodeck time."
Navore managed not to raise an eyebrow but he did carefully look at each of the costimes.
"I must say you have a very ... " He had to think carefully. "Artistic way of sewing and fabricating, he hoped he had not really oggled them before passing them back. "I must complement the way upi look in those images." He grinned. "You looked very... exotic; is that the right complement, well It is accurate. I am impressed with the way you pulled them off...I mean in a sense of fabricating for best astetics."
"Thank you. It's a hobby and I don't get to do it very often, but I do my best at it and I enjoy it greatly. Especially the fight scenes." Tucking the PaDD back away, Claire took a sip of her drink before continuing. "So what do you do for fun?"
"Well that is a bit of a stretch." He scratched his chin. "You see I really like 'tinkering' with things, but that is kind of my job in a way, Though I have more of a facination with antique machines, I mean the really old mechanical machines a couple of centuries back. I like how they look ; how they sound and the quirks of something that is.. diffrent." He smiled. "I am actually working on a type of Motorcycle; a two wheeled means of transportation with an internal combustion engine. Thought I might ride it out and have a picnic or something, make a real day of it on the Holodeck some time." He shrugged. "We Engineers are a bit strange; our work is our passion in a way we do wha we love."
Claire grinned knowingly as Navore spoke. Enjoying your job was always a big plus. "A perfect Engineer then. I know who to go to when my props aren't working right. I'll have to have you take a look at my holo-scepter some time. It's supposed to shoot out different holographic rainbows and sparkles for up to about ten meters, but it fades out at around half of that. The Ferengi I got it from wasn't very helpful, either."
"Was that the Magic Girl costume there?" Navore recalled the imag. "Be a shame to get the maximum potential out of that one." He recalled her legs in that one; among other attributes, and gave a polite grin. "Probibly just an alignment of the optics. Bring it by anytime and I will be glad to have a look at it, no charge." He had to take a stab at the ferengi business mind.
"While off duty, though." Claire punctuated the air with a finger as she spoke. "We can't go mixing work and pleasure. And the ship comes first. But yes, I'll bring it by your quarters sometime after work, if you don't mind. I might even come by dressed in my Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha outfit. On the way to the holodeck, of course..."
"Of course, that would be entertaining." He chuckled. "Maybe you can show me some kind of Male fabricating costume that would tickle the fancy?" He suggested. "I am always open for new experiences, why we are out here right?"
"Always happy to share my expertise, be it professional or otherwise." Claire took another sip from her drink as she leaned back in her chair.
"It is that 'Otherwise' part that I find interesting; you see most people forget that there are things outside of duty when they are, off-duty." He sat back a bit and looked at the woman. "You're not like that , you have life outside what you are required to do and that..." He lifted a finger to accent the point. "Make you special, I like special people they are much easier to get along with." He leaned a little closer. "What you say we continue this stimulating conversation over dinner. Maybe get better acquainted?"
"I'll have to check the policy on fraternization, but..." Leaning in, Claire grinned a bit. "I think that might be possible... Within reason, of course."
"Just a simple dinner." Navore said. "I will even be as much as gentleman as you wish?" He replied with a grin. "I see no reason we cannot have some dinner and conversation that is defined as.. being social with a fellow crewmember."
"First day on the ship and I already have a date. Either I'm more alluring than I think, you're a player, or there's a betting pool." Claire grinned mischievously as she spoke. "So your place or mine?"
"No betting pool." Navore chuckled. "You are alluring and as for the player status." He shook his head. "I am just a friendly sort. " He replied honestly. "DInner might have to be at my place since this is your first day and I do not know how far your unpacking has progressed? I have been known to throw together some good dishes if given a chance? I am all about staying 'within reason."
"Yeah, they delivered my things, but I really haven't unpacked anything. Your place it is then." Claire wrinkled her nose at the thought of unpacking. One of the cases had nothing but costumes and she knew she didn't have enough closet space to store them all. There was no closet. She'd have to find some sort of storage system for them to hang in yet again, which meant a request to...
"While I have your ear..." A sly smile spread across Claire's face. "I need something to hang my costumes on and a covering for it. I've used a rack system with wraparound curtains that bolted to the wall and ceiling of my bedroom before. Is there any chance of a request like that being approved by the Chief Engineer?"
"If you want a classic thought I would suggest a tall Closet, you could add ornate artwork around the outside and it would give that classic 'Heroine secret chamber' type feel. Arouse curiosity but be secure unless you wish to show things off." He said off the top of his head. "Simple fabrication and could have drawers in bottom for ..." He grinned as thinking of the right word. "accessories safely tucked away and leave room for the costumes to be hung properly?"
"A proper closet...rather than a changing room setup?" Claire would have to give it some thought. "I don't want to abuse my position or anything, but that would be nice."
"It is an upright piece of furniture actually; strictly fastened to a wall and ready for use; a fancy foot locker with room to hang and store things leaving the rest of your quarters able to be used as you see fit. It is a simple thing actually in design; what we call old school since it still works well a long time later." He smiled. Not an abuse of power as the fabrication is mostly replicated and a little construction. Call it a small favor among friends?" He shrugged. "I make things all the time I just have to slip this into the flow and then deliver it."
"I'll still have to but in a request... But I'll leave it open ended and just give you the dimensions I need for storing my costumes and clothing." Claire looked a bit sheepish for a moment before continuing. "I uh... Don't have a single piece of replicated clothing in my wardrobe other than my uniforms. And when I send anything through the clothing processor, I make sure they're only in long enough to get cleaned and that's it so I might request a modification to that as well just to make sure it doesn't eat anything by accident."
"Are you asking for a washing machine as well?" Navore actually chuckled. "I will need to make a few measurements to make the arrangements but I think a type of cleaning is possible." He smiled. "Should I make arrangements for a pressing board as well to complete the set?" He winked.
"Oh no, I just want a few safeties on the normal clothing processor is all. If I want anything special I'll let you know later." Claire chuckled softly before sipping at her drink again. She then stared out the windows wistfully for a few moments, deep in thought.
"The humans usually ask 'Penny for your thoughts?" Navore watched her with a smile. "Though the image is rather romantic, the Lovely woman lost in her thoughts gazing out into the stars. No man could know what is in her heart?"
"Just wondering where this ship will take us, is all." Claire replied. "So many places Starfleet could send us, you know."
"That is why we are here." He winked to her. "But we do have each other to count upon so we should be just fine. "You can always drop me a line if you need; I am really open for company; not the Lone Wolf type, I like having someone to talk with and just not be lonely if you know what I mean?" He grinned. "No one relly likes to be alone; there are those who think they do and some convince themselves they have to be alone but i feel no one really likes it all that much. Being alone I mean?"
"And it's good to know none of us are. We're stronger together in all ways." Finishing her drink, Claire nodded to Navore before standing back up. "But I have a few more places to check out around the ship before I call it a night. It's been a pleasure. See you around."
"Always a pleasure Commander." Navore turned to leave. "Be well Commander." He gave the Bajoran blessing as he headed for the door.
