Seleya walked into the mess hall. It had been a rough morning. She’d finally gotten the reports done that needed doing. She was hoping to have a quick and quiet lunch but that was something that was not meant to be. As she entered the mess hall she found it crowded and full.
She ordered a sandwich, some fruit, and a drink to go and headed out. She figured the observation lounge would be empty. She was wrong on that account too.
As the doors parted her eyes settled on the loan figure who was eating his lunch. “Lieutenant Alexander.”
Elijah looked up from his lunch. “Doctor Seleya, I guess great minds think alike.”
“I apologize. I was hoping that the room was empty. I shall go…”
“No wait!” He shot up to his feet worrying the napkin in his hands.
She turned and raised a delicate eyebrow.
“Join me.” He motioned to the chair. “I have…something I would like to discuss with you.”
Sighing she entered the room and slowly spread out her food. She took her time.
Elijah watching her feeling very much amused. She took her time placing her sandwich just right, she opened her drink, set her desert and utensils, it was a sort of dance. A graceful one.
Seleya looked up. “Lieutenant, you are staring.”
Elijah found himself blushing. “Sorry.”
“You said you wished to speak with me. Are you well, what are the symptoms?”
He sighed. “Not about health. I have noticed that in the last few days you have been avoiding me.”
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. “I have not.”
Elijah smiled, “Indeed you have. I turn the corner, you turn around and escape into the nearest turbo lift.”
She thought about it a moment. He was right. “Perhaps.”
He smiled, “I see well can I ask why?”
“No.” She simply said.
Elijah laughed at her Vulcan word trap. “Okay I’ll ask anyway. Why have you been avoiding me?”
The pause was so long that he didn’t think she’d answer but she eventually began to speak, “I…am not accustomed to dealing with your side effects.”
Elijah laughed, “You make me sound like a bad pill. What side effects.”
Seleya, who’d bitten into her sandwiched, chewed thoughtfully allowing her mind to form the right words. “You affect me.”
He grinned, “I see. In what way?”
She huffed. As a Vulcan truth was ingrained in her. She was terrible at lying so she told the truth. “You affect me in an odd way. My heart rate goes up, I perspire, I feel odd. It is hard to breath, my blood pressure goes up. I believe I am allergic.”
He looked at her and then laughed out loud.
She raised an eyebrow at him. “It is not amusing.”
He grinned wickedly. “You are not allergic dear doctor. You are attracted to me.”
“No….no I am not.”
He grinned, “Then why are you blushing.”
She studied him. “I should leave.” She stood and gathered her food.
Elijah stood as well. He came over to her and gently cupped her face with his hands. His thumb caressed her lower lip. “Look me in the eye and tell me you are not attracted to me.”
She looked up at him. She found she couldn’t say it. The more their eyes connected, the way he held her face in his hands. Her heart was hammering and she found that she wanted him to kiss her.
As he began to move towards her lips the com chirped.
=/\=Sickbay to Doctor Seleya. We have a medical emergency=/\=
“Oh thank the Gods.” She whispered as she pulled away and hurried out.
Elijah smiled after her and called, “We’ll talk about this later.”
Seleya used the walk to sickbay to calm down. He did affect her and she was attracted to him but there was so much to consider. She wondered if she should seek some advice.
