Mission:
To catch a thief
Location: Pirate ship
Team Bravo
At a quick but cautious pace Amanda moved down the corridor surprised they hadn’t already been attacked by the ships crew, they must have known what was happening when the Wolff had tractor beamed and fired on their ship. Will followed slightly nervously behind while Hernendez brought up the rear.
Suddenly a door opened and a human walked out just as Amanda was passing, before Will could raise his phaser to stun him Amanda quickly turned and slammed the side of her rifle into his chin, as the man recoiled she hooked a foot around his leg and used her rifle to push him over, sending him to the deck back inside the room. Dropping down with him she knelt on his chest, drew her type II phaser and without looking shot him in the stomach with it, the mans flailing arms fell to the deck as he was stunned.
“Jeez Amanda, remind me not to get on your bad side.” Will quipped as she stood back up and resumed her pace down the corridor. He followed quickly behind only pausing for a moment to rejig the equipment case over his shoulder.
Amanda smirked when she heard Wills remark, her blood was pumping now glad to be back in some actual action, sims were fun but nothing beat real action.
When an alarm sounded and the lights across the deck dimmed slightly they knew the quiet approach was over. “Lets go.” She called out and picked up the pace.
Following the corridor the team reached a corner and Amanda called a halt, they stacked up at the corner. “The door there should lead to their engineering.” she said quietly, taking one of the grenades off her belt she handed it to Hernendez. “Will, take the rear. I’ll blow the door, Hernendez grenade then we head in.”
After both men nodded their understanding Amanda raised her rifle and moved around the corner. She was only three meters away from the door when it opened and an Andorian half emerged from the doorway disruptor pistol in hand pointed straight at her. Amanda fired, her shot missing the Andorian by a fraction of an inch as he ducked back slightly. The Andorians pistol flashed and the bolt slammed into Amanda’s left shoulder. Yelping in pain she fell against the left wall of the corridor, her phaser rifle clattering to the deck.
As Amanda fell, Hernendez fired, his phaser blast hitting the Andorian square in the chest and dropping him to the deck. “Man down.” He called into the comms as he carried on to secure the doorway, poking his head inside he was met by a volley of disruptor bolts. Off handing his phaser rifle he started to exchange fire with them.
“Amanda. You alright?” Will said kneeling beside her, concern for his friend evident in his voice.
“Mother fucker, they got me in my good shoulder.” She replied looking at the hole in her uniform, “My leg feels kinda weird too, sit me up, I just need a minute.”
Will pulled Amanda to a seated position, “You sure?” he asked before stacking back up behind Hernendez.
“I’m sure.” Amanda replied. “Hernendez, what we got?”
“I see five of them, four shooting at me, one doing something at a console, can’t get a shot at him.” He replied ducking back into the corridor away from another group of shots.
“He could be trying to lock out their main computer, or set the self-destruct.” Amanda slowly dragged her way to the other side of the doorway, grabbing her rifle on the way, there was a smear of her blood against the wall. “We need to stop him.”
“Give me cover and I’ll head in.” Hernendez offered. “There’s good cover over there.”
“Alright.” tapping at the controls on her rifle Amanda upped the setting from heavy stun to setting 7, not enough to kill someone straight away but enough to wound them and blow chunks out of any cover they were using, all the more to keep their heads down. Supporting her rifle on her knee Amanda took a deep breath, then started firing rapidly towards the targets.
Between shots Hernendez sprinted from the doorway and dived behind a station, a trail of disruptor bolts followed him despite Amanda’s covering fire.
“Will, move.” Amanda shouted over the fire for him to follow Hernendez.
Waiting for an opportune moment Will ran across the room towards Hernendez, one of the pirates broke from cover to get a better shot at him. Amanda fired, the high powered phaser bolt taking the mans head clean off. The fire slackened for a moment as the pirates looked at their fallen man, seeing a chance Hernendez threw the stun grenade at them.
The grenades explosion stunned the remaining four pirates leaving them in a daze sprawled across the floor, when the reverberating sound of the explosion ended a new alarm sound could be heard across the ship. “They must have set the self destruct, Will get up there and try and stop it.” Amanda shouted before her body started to go limp and she dropped her rifle; the adrenaline keeping her going now spent.
Team Alpha
Amelia moved around the bridge checking on the crew that were still unconscious and noting the damage that had been done to every console within four meters of the grenade. Given the size of the bridge had been most of the consoles. They were useless, screens with spiderweb cracks making geometric fractals across the entirety of the touch screens. Some were flickering on and off as she looked, she knelt to look over the bindings of the Klingon who had taken some serious damage either from phaser fire, grenade, his own defensive turrets or all three. They needed to get everyone on the bridge back to the Wolff for medical treatment and questioning. As she looked over the restraints Gabe’s voice caught her attention.
“Lieutenant, you should probably see this.” He said, the edge in his voice giving away that it was more of an order than a suggestion.
“Chief?” she said as she pivoted to move to one of the consoles on the far back wall, the bank of two consoles that were furthest away from the blast and had also been protected by the bodies of the two crew that had worked there. As she made her way there her eyes immediately saw what Gabe had been wanting her to see. It was a series of numbers, counting down and her stomach dropped quicker than an out of control turbolift.
“Oh well that’s lovely. Have we found a way to turn off the scattering field?” she asked Gabe.
“Not as of yet these consoles are ops only, I would think the scattering field would have been assigned to the tactical station which was destroyed.” He motioned to where they had found the fingerless woman.
“We would need to have access to that station with her command codes to be able to modify the field from here. From this console I can control internal transporters, give you a lay out of the ship and get you a coffee but I can't control tactical systems or engines.” He said as he tapped through the displays “Also I can control life support.”
Amelia thought a moment and tapped her combadge =/\= Barron to Turell =/\=
=/\= I'm here, just =/\= Amanda replied slowly and quite groggily.
=/\= Have you found a way to bring down the scattering field or located the computer core?=/\=
=/\= We can't stop the self destruct but we're working on the scattering field =/\=
=/\= Forget the scattering field, find and secure the computer core we will link up with your element in Engineering. Our mission just got a time limit and I’ll be damned if we don’t bring something back for the old man.=/\= Amelia said referring to the colloquial term for the Captain of the ship.
=/\= Copy =/\=
=/\= Barron out.=/\=
As the Lieutenant spoke Gabe had been rigging the transporters, he had an idea as to what the Lieutenant wanted and figured he could make it happen. When she ended her conversation with Bravo Actual he chimed in.
“I’ve slaved in my tricorder to the transporters. I can beam our captives to engineering along with us so we don’t have to take the scenic route. I MAY,” He emphasized the word "be able to slave this ship's transporters to the Wolff's but I think I'll need to be in engineering to do it." he said as he looked over his shoulder at the Lieutenant.
“Chief, I swear sometimes I think the NCO’s should be officers, you and your bunch have more brains than the biggest brass at HQ. Do it.” She said as he grinned and typed in the correct commands to move them and the captives to Engineering in pillars of light.
Spinning around at the sudden sound Hernendez raised his rifle before realising it was Alpha team and several restrained captives, he’d already put restraints on the four surviving pirates in engineering. “Glad you’re here Lieutenant, we could use a hand.”
Barron grunted "Sit-rep" she said as she moved to a console to look at it's readouts and watched as Gabe moved stiffly to a console of his own bouncing between console and tricorder. "How's the Ensign?" She asked of Hernandez.
"Not too good Sir, we need to get her back to the ship pretty soon." Hernendez replied, sparing a glance back at Amanda still slumped against the wall.
"I see, how long do we have before the ship goes 'splody?" she asked as she moved to Turrell's location and looked her over.
"Maybe eight minutes, we can't stop it."
"Understood. The computer core, have we located it?" Barron asked.
Gabe interrupted "Lieutenant, that link I was hoping for is not going to happen. The scattering field is keeping us from getting a lock with the Wolff's transporters. If the field is gone I could do it but then again if it was gone I wouldn't have to do it." he said simply.
"Dammit." she said to herself sotto voche as the gears in her mind turned, coming up with options and dismissing them before seizing up on two, prioritizing them and deciding on one.
"Ensign Raynada is in the computer core now." Hernendez said after Gabe had finished. "He reckons he can get the field down but there won't be much time left to get any data from the core."
You could almost see the available options Barron had envisioned get whittled down to fewer and fewer courses of action.
=/\= Barron to Raynada. =/\=
=/\= Go ahead =/\=
=/\= How long to power down the computer core? =/\= she asked as she looked at her tricorder and followed it to his location.
=/\= Too long I think =/\=
"Damn and no breaching charges." She sighed, nodded to herself, discarded the last remaining options and chose. "In that case we cut it out tag it with an isolinear tag for easy transport and hope it doesn't frag the data within."
"That could work," Will replied, not taking his eyes off the station. "I need to get this field down though or we're going nowhere."
She rolled her eyes and aimed at the power junction, flipping the power setting of her phaser rifle to a high enough setting to slice through the connectors she got to work. Within seconds she had cut through each junction, she turned to the engineer.
"What do you think was controlling the field? Tag the core and get your ass back to the group." She headed back to engineering.
Amelia had left before Will could even attempt a response. He stuck an isolinear tag to what remained of the computer core, hopefully it would still be in a good enough condition to root through for useful data. That done he quickly made his way back into engineering.

Groggily the Klingon Captain came back to his senses gradually followed by more of the crew as the effects of a phaser stun began to wear off, he looked around seeing most of his crew all together in the same room. Eventually all of his crew were awake and looking at him, their looks asking the question of what do we do "Hochdich nuh." He shouted to them and bit down on a ampoule in his mouth. Within seconds he started to convulse and froth at the mouth.
Moments later the other crew all started to convulse and froth in the same fashion.
Hernedez ran to the closest prisoner rolling him onto his front in an attempt to force the liquid from his mouth but it was already too late he was completely stiff and blank eyed. He scanned him with his tricorder. "He's dead, some form of poison. Same with all the others."
"Dammit." He said as he called out to Barron.
"Lieutenant!" He yelled as she came around the corner. She took in the scene, shook her head and tapped her communicator.
=/\= Barron to Wolff. =/\=
=/\= Go ahead, what's your status Lieutenant?=/\= Came Taliserra's voice.
=/\= Requesting emergency beam out, the crew were less than helpful and set the ship to self destruct. We have..=/\= she paused as she looked over her shoulder to the countdown on the ship's consoles =/\= Three minutes. We have also tagged some equipment to be brought back and some bodies. They might not be able to talk but the doc's might find some clue in an autopsy.=/\=
=/\= Understood, we will energise as soon as we've locked on. =/\=
=/\= Start with Ensign Turell and Chief D'Anconia, they need to go to sickbay as they were injured while over here. The rest of the team is good to go. =/\= Amelia replied as she waited to see the columns of light take the two injured crew and prepared herself for transport.
The energy surrounded her and she was pulled from the ship. Amelia blinked and found herself in the transporter room of the Wolff. Her mind and body moved at the same time taking her off the pad and dropping her equipment into the Chief's crates that were still there. After that was done she nodded to the officers beside her and headed to the bridge.
