Mission: The Silent Scream
Location: Deck 7- Sickbay
Timeline: 8th April 2395 0830hrs

Aiko looked down at her PaDD. "For the love of! Medical? Didn't I do that?" Just as the words left her mouth she knew that she had not. Sighing Aiko looked at herself in the mirror. The last hurdle before...well second to last before she could take her duties. "Alright. I can do this." She straightened her uniform and then headed out. It took surprisingly less time then she planned. "Hello? Doctor?"

Adel the nurse smiled and made her way to the office. Rapping on the door she called out , "Doctor, you have a patient." She smiled at Aiko and said, "Doctor Zhao will be with you shortly. "

Jun pulled on her consultation jacket and departed the office. As she rounded the corridor she smiled at the Nurse, and turned to Aiko. "Good day Lieutenant how may I assist you with today?"

Aiko held out her PaDD. "I'm here for my medical before I take my post." She flattened her lips. Doctors...were never a favourite of hers. The only doctor that could make her calm was Dr. Hades and this woman was not him.

Taking the Padd, she took a quick look through before handing it to the Nurse, and turning to Aiko. "Please take a seat on bio bed one, any medical complaints new since your last annual?" She ask politely, as she began the scans, and the nurse handed off and retrieved various scanning tools from the CMO...

She hopped up on the bio bed. "It's been a while since my last physical. Nothing to complain about. The usual stuff I guess." She wondered if the previous CMO had noted her insomnia.

"Are you still experiencing Insomnia? I noted it in your medical chart." She said casually.

Aiko sighed. "Depends on how you look at it. Sure, insomnia but it's productive. Get tons of work done."

The doctor nodded, "Until you pass out from exhaustion or worse suffer a medical problem from sleep deprivation. "

She smiled. "Yeah it's been known to happen." She sighed. "I will keep a monitor on it though."

"Make sure you do," Jun said with a mildly serious tone "I don't want to get called in to sedate you to make you get some sleep."

"I understand. Doc can I ask you something?" Aiko, since arriving in the sickbay had been debating about how much she should say to the doc. "I mean... I have a personal question. Can I count on Confidentiality?"

"Of course," Jun said smiling slightly. "unless it effects the security of the ship."

"I doubt that. Anyway... the last few weeks my knee has been giving me trouble. Arthritis runs in the family and I...worry that it's that. I mean I did injure it a month ago so it could be that but...I wanted to check."

"Lets have a look," Jun took the medical probe out of her medical tricorder and ran it over the knee Aiko pointed out. "What is the 'trouble' when you put your weight on it or general aches and stiffness?

"Not sure. Sometimes at night there is this weakness when I get up and on and off a weakness and pain when I get up after kneeling."

"There is a little inflammation around your knee, quite common amongst you engineers, too much kneeling down on hard surfaces." Jun turned away and took a few steps over to a medical station.

"But nothing major right?" She was anxious to ensure that she was still in functioning order. She hated being sick and as an engineer she needed to be in tip top shape. "I think I may ask you for some sleeping pills too. You're right...I should get some sleep."

"Nothing major yet, but if you keep over working yourself it's going to get worse." Jun returned with a loaded hypo and injected it into Aiko. "That will help reduce the inflammation, I want you to come in for a regular check every few weeks..... and I will be making sure you do."

Aiko sighed. “Thanks doc, as far as medicals go this was alright.” She smiled. She sat up. “Okay so I think I’m ready to go.” Aiko waited for the doctor to clear her.

Jun went to fetch another hypo. "I'm clearing you for duty but I will be keeping a close eye on you." She handed her the hypo. "This has a single does of a sleep aid. Don't make this a regular thing."

"I just need a few nights sleep and I'll be right as rain." She looked at the hypo' "Any side effects I should be worried about?"

Jun shook her head. "No, just make sure you're in bed before you take it, otherwise you'll hit the deck 10 seconds later and I'll get called to pick your limp body up."

She laughed. "That powerful huh?" She sighed. “Well okay. I guess I better head down to Engineering and get sorted.” She held up the hypo. “Thanks doc.” She paused. “One more question.”

"Sure."

"Can I have one more of these sleep hypos...preferably with a smaller applicator in case I get trapped with the Cappy in a turbo lift or something and I need to um...hit the deck to avoid conversation." She shook her head. "That girl don't like me. I can feel it in my bones."

Jum tried not to laugh. "No. And there's no drug I can give you or the Captain to make you like eachother. you'll have to work on that yourself."

Aiko sighed and smiled, "I guess we both have to do the hard work."

"Good luck." Jun smiled. "Now get going Lieutenant."
