Mission:
Shoreleave
Location: Sickbay
Lieutenant Commander Tyrus Acevedo and Doctor Hope Ross walked into Sickbay where Ty knew the next few pages of this whole ordeal were about to be turned. He looked at Hope. "I know the routine, hop up onto the biobed and you will grab a bunch of fun devices to look at my insides," he said shaking his head in disbelief. Pregnant it made zero sense to him. "Summer is taking this well, better than I am at least. I have no idea how the hell I'm going to explain this and to the Captain" he added as he waited for the Wolff's Chief Medical Officer
Ty watched as Nurse Evelyn Kees walked in, undoubtedly summoned to lend a hand. "Guess who's pregnant," he said to woman.
“Pregnant? You??” Evelyn was definitely surprised by that one. “I’m eager to learn more about this.” She paused by Tyrus’ bedside. “No wonder Summer seemed off when I bumped into her. I know how I’d be feeling if I was in her place.” She offered a wry smile.
"Safe to assume she's not the mother...er father? You know, I have no damn idea what to even say" he shook his head. "This was not something I marked on my calendar or agenda."
Hope in fact returned from a supply closet with several tools. “Commander, if you would lie back and get comfortable we will begin” she smiled “hopefully we can get you some answers.”
Ty got up into position and flat on his back. "Doctor, whatever happened to cause me to become pregnant, I can assure you it was not by any conventional means" stated Ty. "I've only been involved with Summer since coming aboard" the First Officer proclaimed.
He took a deep breath and sighed. How am I going to explain this to Taliserra he thought to himself. "Is it really another lifeform inside of me?"
“Yes sir” Lieutenant Ross shook her head and made some additional scans. “From what I can tell the fetus looks pretty healthy. However I’ll need to do some additional research.” Hope wanted to know as much as she could. After all she wants to give her superior officer as accurate information as she could.
"Why is it..." Ty wasn't sure what to really say. "I mean I know I'm not biologically female. But why is it developing here" he said indicationg the area on his body. "Don't most humanoid species carry a child around their midsection?"
He understood that Hope didn't have all the answers yet. His biggest question was of course "Am I in any danger with this?" Again something he was unsure if Hope had an answer for yet.
“I’m” she paused and then looked back into her superiors eyes “I don’t have a definite answer but from what I can tell so far you should be fine.” The doctor was running more scans as they continued to speak.
Ty let outva small sigh. Patience he reminded himself. "Run every test you need to. Take any sort of sample that tickles your fancy. I'll pee in a damn cup if I have to" said Ty thinking of things he heard about archaic medical practices and testing.
"I just need to know what kind of alien did this to me. I plan on going back to Risa once the Captain gets back, I have to find who or what did this to me" he added.
“Well I’ll have to continue to do research” the ships doctor smiled. “I just don’t have enough right now. I’d like you to wear this monitor” she pulled out a device that would go on the Commanders chest “We can continuously monitor your vital signs and look for any other abnormalities with your heart.”
"Delightful," replied Ty. He knew it was necessary though. There was no point in taking risks. Risks would notonly mean putting himself at risk but this additional developing life form. If it truly was something's offspring, he had a oath as a Starfleet officer to protect it. That he would.
He looked at the Doctor as she fitted him with the monitoring device. "Just find me answers, Doc. I need them" Ty added. "If you don't have anything else for me, am I able to resume my duties?"
“I don’t see any reason you can’t return to your duties. Any pain or concerns return to sickbay immediately, sir”. Hope smiled and gave a nod, offering a hand to help him up.
At least working on something would take his mind off all of this. "Thank you. I'll be in the Captain's Ready Room if you need anything." Ty left feeling optimistic that eventually they would know something.
