Mission:
A marathon not a sprint
Location: Crocell
Dokken had some cushion of time at his disposal. Federation reinforcements had arrived, and he made the play that he was left with. A tactical retreat was necessary for survival and to do what he now needed to. Distance had been put between he and Taliserra, the Crocell and the Wolff.
The Wolff had been wounded though Dokken had been very deliberate with his orders, and his weapons officer had been surgical with their precision. Wound, maim, and disable the Wolff as necessary was all that was on the table much to the dismay of the Dead Skull privateers aboard. Dokken was forced to walk a very thin and exhausting line with this crew. He had to essentially strike fear into them just so they wouldn't mangle his orders. Sometimes, that meant breaking bones, pulling teeth, or dislocating a limb or several, but murder was a last resort. Since receiving his crew for the Crocell, he had only had to take a life sparingly. It came as a result of treason. Treason was not acceptable, mutiny was not an option.
During the skirmish with the Wolff, his crew had been successful in their attack. The Wolff was Tikar Mahan's ever throbbing torn in his side, but that was his problem, not Dokken's. The Wolff was simply a means to an end, an opportunity that Dokken used to get where he was. So long as the Wolff existed, Dokken existed, and his 'contract' with Mahan was active. The Wolff and the Crocell were co-dependent for this cat and mouse game to continue.
Dokken had sent his 'gift' to the Wolff's Commanding Officer, though of course, the Trill was deaf to his words his blinded by combat. It left Dokken with very few options, and redirecting fire upon Wolff rather than the Marathon was the play that Taliserra had forced him into. Therefore, more drastic measures needed to be taken. He used the Crocell's might and seized a brief opportunity to abduct two individuals from aboard the Wolff, doing so in a swift mid-fight robbery.
Take their Captain? No, that would have been a move that would have gotten them nowhere. Dokken needed someone specific, and it was a two for one special on the Wolff. Doctor Hope Ross and Counselor Summer Wyse. They had been located in different parts of the Wolff, but they had been the ideal candidates for abduction.
Now, one of them, Summer was being held in a room alone and unarmed with Dokken himself, but she would fine herself in some unfamiliar territory - unable to sense him, incapable of getting a reading on a man that was not a hologram. "Thank you for joining me, Counselor. Mind the mild headache. You were momentarily knocked unconscious after being beamed aboard the Crocell."
Summer was sitting massaging her temples in an attempt to relieve her headache. She paused to look up at Dokken, she couldn’t sense him which made her uncomfortable, not that she allowed it to be seen. “Why have you brought me here? What is it you want?”
"You are in no danger here, Summer, though your cooperation is necessary" Dokken began. They were alone, the room secured. "Both you and Doctor Ross were taken from the Wolff. Hope assisted with a minor procedure to inhibit your abilities. I can assure you, the effects will wear off. For now though? You'll have to rely on words."
He carefully paced the room before taking a seat. "You are here because Captain Tigran refuses to listen. She's deaf to words and unreasonably shortsighted. You, on the other hand? You aren't the same. Are you?"
Summer gave Dokken a curious look. "I wondered why I wasn't sensing anything, at least now I know." she paused. "I'll admit I'm curious, you aren't living up to the usual expectations for a pirate, at least not yet. What it is you're so desperate for Captain Tigran to know?"
"That she needs to stop Tikhar Mahan at all costs, failure to do so would be detrimental to more than just the Federation. The entire galaxy as we know it is at risk" stated Dokken. The altered voice still menacing and mechanical is sound, though a spark of emotion in the tone.
He looked at Summer through his mask. "I am no pirate, but I will do what is necessary to bring order to chaos. Captain Tigran has been a problematic pest to Tikhar Mahan. Fine. It has given me the guise I needed to stand at his side, prepared to slit his throat and take my place."
Dokken shook his head. "Taliserra Tigran is blinded by her own narrow purview, tainted dichotomous philosophy. Ignorant to the factors at play. You want to know the gift I left your Captain? I delivered a Romulan traitor right to her. Lieutenant Commander Radak as you knew him to be, former First Officer of the Wolff was nothing but a Talshiar spy, a parasite feeding off of your intel."
Summer nodded. “A Tal’shiar spy? I never knew him.” She paused. “Very well I’ll pass along your message, and what of Radak? Will he be accompanying me back to the Wolff again?”
"He will not be accompanying anyone anywhere," Dokken stated. He did not go into any detail. Though it was safe to assume nobody would hear from Radak again.
Dokken studied Summer. "Not the First Officer you knew well" if there were a way to see beneath his mask, it would show a playful smirk. "Captain Tigran will not likely believe me. Do your best to convince her."
Summer nodded. “I’ll try but the Captain doesn’t trust a word you say. You expect me to trust you when you don’t even show me your face, what about putting a little trust my way?”
"You do not need to see my face to invest trust in what I am saying to you, Counselor" Dokken stated firmly. "Perhaps seeing my face would turn you to stone or madden" he hinted at the Medusan species.
“I doubt it” Summer offered a shake of her head. “You obviously feel the need for anonymity, in your… shall we say, line of work? I’m not surprised.”
"It's in the best interest of everyone that I hold to anonymity, Counselor. My identity would cost lives, too many lives." Dokken gave a nod. "You have your message. You'll awaken aboard the Wolff eventually. Get the message across to your Captain. Failure to do so will result in catastrophic outcomes."
Summer nodded. "I'll tell her, but seriously can't I stay awake this time? You can blindfold me if you want."
Dokken gave a small nod. "You'll be taken to a pod and ejected with a transponder. The Wolff will undoubtedly find you."
Summer nodded. “Understood. Don’t get me wrong, but I hope we never meet like this again.”
