Calabra system
The Calabra system is located approximately ten light years from the Romulan Neutral Zone. The system is comprised of five planets, two of which (Calabra III and Calabra IV) are Class M. Calabra III is the home of a small Federation colony, and in orbit of Calabra IV is Starbase 97, a Celestial class base which serves as the base of operation for the 4077th Tactical Wing.
Due to the location of Starbase 97, the Calabra system is the primary system in what has become known as the Calabra sector. This sector saw fierce combat during the Dominion War, when it was nearly over run by Cardassian and Dominion forces launching attacks from across the Neutral Zone. By mid-2374, the sector was caught behind enemy lines when the Dominion launched their Benzar offensive. Starfleet forces under the command of sector commander Rear Admiral Taichi Keaton (NPC) valiently held off the enemy forces for ten weeks despite the loss of most of their ships. The seige was finally broken when the Romulan Star Empire joined the alliance. Within hours of joining the alliance, the Romulan Seventh Fleet stormed across the Neutral Zone and tore through the Cardassian Fifteenth Order while en route to liberate Benzar. After driving off the Dominion forces and leaving a wing of D'Deridex class warbirds behind to defend the battered starbase, the rest of the Romulan fleet continued on to liberate Benzar.
